Antiques Roadshow:
We went there today! Sorry, but I don't have time to blog about this right now. My friend, Linda will probably be posting something very soon, so check her blog if you want to know more.
Here's a link to the pictures I took, but probably not much fun without the explanations.
I'll try to get back to this later in the week if I have time. It's a busy week coming up!
I ended up taking Carole's piano photos and the Roy Lichtenstein print. I will say that we're not millionaires or anything, but I did see a set of items appraised for $350,000! That was the highlight of the day for me. Wow!!!
More to come...

Happy 24th Birthday, Miranda!

Miranda is a special young lady! Intelligent, funny, sweet, kind, caring, and a lover of God. She's independent, talented and self-confident. I hope she was reminded of all those things and so much more on Saturday. Here's a picture of her proud parents, and they have every reason to be.
We interrupt the Kuwait updates for a very important event. Miranda's birthday and bon voyage party! We were privileged to be invited and are blessed to be able to share life with this sweet young woman.
What a fun party too! Her mom, Linda spent countless hours making so many delicious treats for everyone to enjoy. Take a look at that table!
She also served awesome fresh-baked bruschetta in 3 flavors. One with fresh basil, tomato and mozzarella, one with brown sugar, cinnamon, sliced pear and brie (I think that was my favorite) mmmm, and another with cranberry sauce and bleu cheese. It was good, but I'm not a bleu cheese fan, so my least favorite. She did an amazing job with everything, food and presentation. What a treat!
After a bit of mingling they had everyone go outside and several people spent time affirming Miranda and letting her know just how much she is loved. This is always so touching to watch and be reminded of the unique qualities that God has given to the guest of honor. I would love to share in the affirmation, but I get so emotional just watching, that I'd never be able to articulate how I feel about the person. I just have to do it in writing, otherwise no one would understand a word that I said.
We're so excited that she is getting the chance to go to college near London for a semester. What a great adventure! I wish I was going with her or at least going over to visit. We'll be praying for a rich and wonderful time for her there.
We love you Miranda! Happy Birthday and Bon voyage in the coming months!

Light in the Piazza:Linda, Miranda, Amy and I went to see the Light in the Piazza at Grady Gammage theater this past Wednesday. It was a fun night out as moms and daughters and a nice musical with some excellent acting, beautiful costumes and creative sets. We all love musicals and everyone in the group, except me, has done some acting and singing...well o.k., I was the narrator in a reading of How the Grinch Stole Christmas in high school and in one church play as an adult many years ago because they couldn't find anyone else to do it and I sang in a folk band a long long time ago. Later on I decided I would leave the public singing and acting to those who do it best, but I live vicariously through them. I LOVE live theater and singing. When both of our kids were in plays, musicals and choir in high school, I went to every single performance because I just couldn't stand to miss them. Every night is unique and I just couldn't think about missing out on a special moment. It touches my heart! I'm so blessed to be able to enjoy times like this.
Don't they look just so cute waiting to go in? Miranda had a gorgeous vintage dress on that could have easily been used in the play, which was set in the 50's. When we went out to eat afterward, all eyes were on her as she walked through the restaurant. I wish I had gotten a picture of the full dress. Miranda, you'll have to have someone take a pic of you in it so you can post it.
I did learn something about myself that night. Next time if it's a week night and we decide to go out to eat, I think we should do it before the show, because I was exhausted the next day, trying to get up and go to work. I hope we get to do it again sometime soon.
